Litecoin is a cryptocurrency and open source software project released under the MIT/X11 licence. Litecoin was an early Bitcoin offshoot that started in 2011. Litecoin is almost identical to Bitcoin.

As of March 2021, Bitcoin's market cap is $617 billion, while Litecoin's is $13.7 billion, according to Forex Ratings.
